FISHING FOR COMPLIMENTS
MAWS 2026 Conference June 16-21 Missoula, Montana
Enter your beautiful fiber work in the MAWS 2026 Open Show. All fiber techniques are encouraged including weaving,
spinning, knitting, crocheting, felting, basketry, etc. All entries must have been completed since the last MAWS
Conference in 2024. The show is open to all current MAWS members. If you are not attending the conference, please
specify who is authorized to drop off and pick up your items on the entry form. Only one entry allowed in a category, up
to 3 total entries per participant. Please complete the Open Show Entry Form for each item entered.
Ribbons and Vendor Bucks for 1st and ribbons for 2nd will be awarded.
OPEN SHOW CATEGORIES:
Garments: Coat, dress, robe, pants, poncho, ruana, skirt, sweater, vest, etc.
1. Handwoven
2. Handspun, Handwoven
3. Any fiber technique except Handwoven
4. Any Handspun fiber technique except Handwoven
Accessory: Bag, belt, hat, gloves/mittens, jewelry, scarf, shawl, etc.
5. Handwoven
6. Handspun, Handwoven
7. Any fiber technique except Handwoven
8. Any Handspun fiber technique except Handwoven
Household items: Rugs, runners, placemats, napkins, baskets, etc.
9. Handwoven
Handspun Skeins: 30 yards minimum
10. Single
11. Plied
12. Art/novelty yarn
Artistic Expression: Wall art, 3D, etc., any fiber technique
13. Small Scale - less than 15” in all directions
14. Large Scale - 15” or larger in any direction
Youth Age 16 and Under (Fiber related accessories will be awarded for 1st)
15. One entry allowed in any category 1-14, up to 5 total entries.
Special Awards may be given for:
Best Interpretation of Conference Theme, Best Use of Conference Colors, Best of Bateman, Best Weaving on 4 Shas or
Less, Complex Weaver’s Award, HGA Award, People’s Choice and Conference Chairperson’s Choice.
