July 13, 2020 President's Report
I would like to summarize the business that has occurred in the last month. It has certainly been interesting, and I really miss the efficiency of our usual in person board meetings.
The revised Bylaws were passed unanimously by the general members who submitted votes.
The following motion was passed by a majority, with three members expressing approval but never actually voting yes. The rest did vote for the motion to extend the six (6) 2020 MAWS Conference scholarships to the next conference and inform those individuals they will be available for them. If any are not used we may solicit applications to fulfill the five (5) usual scholarships upon hearing from the Scholarship Committee.
The Prairie Handspinners, who had submitted an application for a grant for a workshop this fall have cancelled their event, so there are no grants under consideration at this time.
The MAWS Board officers slate is ready to send out for a vote in the next newsletter.
Developing the slate of officers brought up questions about how Members at Large are selected. It was decided to hold off on the final Policy Handbook approval until this is discussed at a board meeting.
Annette Cade is working on putting together a slate of Conference officers for the potential 2022 conference in Helena.
